Colts 6, 67’s 3
The Ottawa 67’s had five days off to think about a loss last Friday to the Kingston Frontenacs, basement-dwellers in the Ontario Hockey League’s Eastern Conference.
Perhaps it would have been better to get right back at it. On Thursday night, the Barrie Colts, currently second-last in the East, copied the Frontenacs’ formula for success in winning 6-3 at the Barrie Molson Centre.
Jet Greaves got the win in goal despite the fact Ottawa had a 34-16 edge in shots on goal. Last Friday night in Kingston, goalie Brendan Bonello was the first star as his team won 3-2 after being outshot 39-13.
Cédrick Andrée went the distance in goal for Ottawa against Barrie, surrendering two goals each to Tyson Foerster and Ben Hawerchuk. Sam Bitten, Austen Keating and Sasha Chmelevski (his 30th) scored the 67’s goals.
Going into Thursday’s games, Barrie and Kingston combined had seven fewer wins than league-leading Ottawa, which fell to 44-11-5. Ottawa had come into the game against Kingston with 14 wins in its past 15 games.
The 67’s are in Hamilton on Friday night.
