The towering Mads Sogaard could make his NHL debut in goal for the Senators, providing a snapshot of what the crease could look like long-term in Ottawa. THREE THINGS ABOUT THE RED WINGS
1. It has been a rough month for Detroit, especially when trying to keep the puck out of the net. Since March 4, the Red Wings are 2-8-3 and have been outscored 64-33. Pittsburgh scored 11 in one game, Arizona potted 9 in another and Edmonton turned on the red light seven times.
2. Rookie defenceman Moritz Seider is the Calder Trophy frontrunner. Seider is averaging 23:06 per game, is quarterbacking the power play and has delivered 44 points, fourth among all rookies. Take what you want out of plus/minus numbers, but Seider is a minus two on a team with a minus 65 differential.
3. The Red Wings blew leads of 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 in their 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday. They gave up a tying goal to Chris Kreider with only 3:38 remaining in regulation. Jakub Vrana scored, giving him seven goals in 11 games since returning from shoulder surgery.
