SPENDING AND SECURITY

The Trudeau government is proving to be the most fiscally irresponsible and recklessly weak on protecting national security ever.

Trudeau said he wanted to get CERB payments out quickly and would worry about fraud later. We now learn that resulted in CERB payments going to 1,500 in prison and even dead people! It seems $27.4 billion in payments to companies and individuals are considered suspicious.

Now we learn there was also zero due diligence when a contract was given to a company linked to China to supply sensitive equipment to the RCMP. Any minimal background checks would have resulted in finding that company was facing serious espionage charges in the U.S.A.

Trudeau seems much more interested in seizing hunting rifles and shotguns used by hunters and farmers than reining in his reckless spending and protecting national security.

LARRY COMEAU

OTTAWA

(Doing more research is rarely a bad thing.)

NO REPERCUSSIONS

We have had two inquiries now basically wrap up: the Emergencies Act and the LRT. My takeaway from these is that there are no repercussions for the federal politicians who unlawfully invoked the Emergencies Act. The same goes for the former mayor, city manager and head of transportation who basically deceived council and the residents of Ottawa.

MARK BOYER

(We’ll see.)

CHINESE INFILTRATION

Reports that a Chinese government-owned company is currently installing communication security equipment for the RCMP, despite being charged with multiple counts of espionage, and banned in the U.S., has the prime minister apparently finding the situation “disconcerting.”

Ironically, he states that, “We’re figuring out how this could continue to happen,” while attempting to explain it away by claiming that his government will “make sure that Canada is not (any longer) signing contracts with the lowest bidder.”

As the $54 million ArriveCAN app clearly showed, the “lowest bidder” explanation is a non-starter, and Canadians who are paying attention know full well “how this could continue to happen”.

Unfortunately, it appears that most Canadians can’t even afford to pay attention these days.

EDMONTON

(There’s almost too much for the public to attempt to keep up with.)

FORD AND BIDEN

When Biden uses Congressional action to shut down a rail strike, he’s hailed as a hero. When Ford uses his legislature to shut down a CUPE strike, he’s lambasted as an anti-democratic bully. Why?

JAMES PRUSZYNSKI

CLARENCE, N.Y.

(Fair question.)

SINGH NEEDS TO DUMP TRUDEAU

When is NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh going to wake up and take his nose out of Justin Trudeau’s business? He’s propped him up with that nose for long enough. If we get universal dental care and pharmacare, the Liberals will take full credit for it anyway. But, hey, poor Canadians who are freezing, have to go to food banks and can’t afford gas will at least have nice teeth.

GAYLE SYMMONS

PICKERING

(Singh has no intention of pulling his support any time soon; he got this dental plan through, even though he received no credit for it.)

GET IT DONE

If Trudeau, Singh, Rachel Notley, Jyoti Gondek and most of the eastern media all think Danielle Smith is bat rat crazy, then she is obviously doing exactly what Albertan Conservatives want her to get done.

TOBY MCCARTNEY

CALGARY

(Time will tell.)
