High winds in forecast for noon hour

Article content

Buckle up, folks!

High winds are headed towards Ottawa.

Gusts are projected to range from 40 km/h to 70 km/h at about noon in the capital.

The blustery winds aren't expected to last long, though, and are expected to die down in this area by tonight, but may still persist throughout the afternoon.

Meanwhile, areas near the Great Lakes are expected to see much higher winds of about 90 km/h, in areas near Eastern Lake Ontario in particular.

Environment Canada warns the wind may be strong enough to damage trees and disrupt power lines.

The windstorm will be over Friday as the gusts head towards Quebec.
