Gatineau crash victim identified

Gatineau resident Derek Tighe, 28, has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on a quiet stretch of road off Plateau Blvd. Tuesday.

Neighbours say he was a “nice guy” who had just moved into his Gatineau apartment on Sept. 1. He had been working in construction.

Police say Tighe moved across the river from Ottawa.

Speed was said to be a major factor in the collision. Gatineau police say they’ve had problems with speeding along that section of road, and regularly set up speed traps in the area.
