Ottawa GGs romp past Ryerson Rams

The Gee-Gees women’s soccer team powered its way through a dominant first half to defeat the Ryerson Rams 6-0 in the season opener at home on Saturday.
Julia Franki, with two, Christine Hardie, Pilar Khoury, Corina Jarrett, Krista Draycott and Vanessa MacMillan scored for the Gee-Gees, who play host to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday at 1 p.m. Goalkeepers Cynthia Leblanc and Alexandra Girouard each played a half to split the shutout.
The Carleton Ravens, meanwhile, tied the U of T 1-1, with Nicole Filipow (Carleton) and LaShaunna Harper (Toronto) trading goals. The Ravens will host Ryerson Sunday at 1 p.m.
In Ravens men’s play, Carleton opened the season with a 3-1 win over the Blues.
Andrew Latty scored twice and Christophe Laberge-Perreault added another for the Ravens, who will host Ryerson at 3:15 on Sunday.
