One day after putting out a public appeal for the truck owned by a Val-des-Monts homicide victim, cops have arrested a suspect in the slaying.

Michael Brazier, 40, of Val-des-Monts is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of 57-year-old Richard Blanchet.

The Val-des-Monts resident was found dead at his Hwy. 307 home north of Cantley on Saturday afternoon.

His home had several windows broken, and investigators quickly labelled the death a homicide. Police have not released the cause of death.

Tuesday morning, police issued an appeal to find the victim’s truck, which was believed to be the getaway vehicle.

The truck, a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4x4 pickup, was spotted yesterday near a motel on Blvd. Greber in Gatineau. This led police to Brazier, who was arrested in the motel around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The truck has been impounded by police for the continuing investigation.

Brazier appeared in court Thursday and his next court date was set for June 7.
